How to Set Up Biometric Login on Binance APP

Biometric Login Overview

The Binance APP supports biometric authentication for login, including fingerprint recognition (Touch ID / fingerprint sensor) and face recognition (Face ID / facial recognition). Once enabled, you simply verify with your fingerprint or face each time you open the APP or perform sensitive operations — secure and convenient. This article covers the setup process in detail.

Prerequisites

Before setting up biometric login on Binance, make sure:

  1. Hardware support: Your phone must have a fingerprint sensor or facial recognition module
  2. Biometric data enrolled: Fingerprint or face data has been enrolled in your phone's system settings
  3. Latest APP version: Older versions may not support this feature
  4. Already logged into Binance: You need to log in with your account password first

Checking Device Support

  • iPhone: iPhone 5s and above support Touch ID; iPhone X and above support Face ID
  • Android: Most mid-to-high-end Android phones released after 2016 support fingerprint recognition

iOS Setup Steps

Setting Up Face ID Login (iPhone X and Above)

  1. Open the Binance APP and make sure you're logged in
  2. Tap the profile icon in the top left > Go to Security settings
  3. Find the Face ID or Biometric option
  4. Tap to enable; the system will prompt for Face ID verification
  5. Complete facial verification to finish setup
  6. You may need to enter your account password or 2FA code to confirm identity

Setting Up Touch ID Login (iPhone 5s - iPhone 8 Series)

  1. Open the Binance APP
  2. Go to Profile > Security > Touch ID
  3. Enable the Touch ID toggle
  4. Place your finger on the Home button to verify
  5. Setup complete

Android Setup Steps

Setting Up Fingerprint Login

  1. Open the Binance APP
  2. Tap the profile icon in the top left > Security
  3. Find Fingerprint Login or Biometric Authentication
  4. Tap to enable
  5. Place your finger on the fingerprint sensor to verify
  6. Verification successful — enabled

Setting Up Face Recognition (Android Phones with Face Recognition)

Some Android phones (such as Samsung Galaxy S series, Huawei Mate series, etc.) support face recognition:

  1. Ensure face recognition is already set up in your phone's system settings
  2. Enable biometric login in the Binance APP security settings
  3. The system will automatically use the phone's face recognition feature

Note: The security level of face recognition varies by Android device. Some phones use 2D facial recognition (camera only), which is less secure than 3D structured light. Fingerprint recognition is generally preferred.

Biometric Authentication Use Cases

After enabling biometric login, the following operations may require verification:

  1. Opening the APP: Fingerprint/face verification each time you launch Binance
  2. Viewing assets: Viewing account balances and holdings
  3. Withdrawal operations: Additional verification when submitting withdrawal requests
  4. Modifying security settings: Changing passwords, 2FA, etc.
  5. In-app payments: P2P transaction confirmations, etc.

You can customize which operations require biometric verification in the settings.

Relationship with Other Security Measures

Biometric login is one layer of Binance's multi-level security system and doesn't conflict with other security measures:

  • Password login: Biometric login supplements but doesn't fully replace passwords. After extended non-use or phone restart, you'll still need to enter your password.
  • Google Authenticator (2FA): Two-factor authentication and biometric login are independent security layers. High-risk operations like withdrawals still require 2FA verification.
  • SMS verification: Some operations may require both biometric and SMS verification.
  • Anti-phishing code: An email security measure, unrelated to APP login method.

Recommended security combination: Password + Google Authenticator + Biometric login — enabling all three maximizes account security.

FAQs

Q: Can someone else's fingerprint unlock my Binance? A: No. Biometric login uses the fingerprint/face data enrolled in your phone's system — only registered biometric data can pass verification. However, if someone else's fingerprint is also enrolled in your phone system, they could unlock it. It's recommended to only enroll your own biometric data.

Q: What if fingerprint recognition fails? A: After multiple consecutive failures, the APP will require password login. This is a security mechanism to prevent repeated attempts by others. Wet, dirty, or injured fingers may cause recognition failures — wipe your finger dry and try again.

Q: Do I need to set it up again after changing phones? A: Yes. Biometric data is stored locally on the phone and doesn't sync to new devices. After changing phones, you'll need to log into your Binance account again and re-enable biometric login.

Q: Will disabling biometric login affect account security? A: After disabling, the APP no longer requires fingerprint/face verification, which reduces security somewhat. It's recommended to keep it enabled.
